Specifications
Main design feature: Polycarbonate hinged wedge powered by 6 wheel drive. Weight:
2.01 lbs.
Batteries: 5 cell, 6 volt, AA NiCd. Armor: .050 thick Titanium blade and
.125 Polycarbonate. Basic platform was a gutted BioHazard Battlebots®
toy.
Build information
This robot was built on October 24th 2003. It was made the Friday
before the Critter Crunch, put on by the Mad Scientists Club as part of the MileHiCon
35.
After removing about 1 lb of plastic from BioHazard, I added a few surplus
Polycarbonate pieces and borrowed a Ti wedge from a 1 lb robot
"Rectifier". The radio was used unmodified. The shock
sensor was disabled by removing the spring.
At Critter Crunch "Black Gator" came in fourth place. It got
flipped by "Flap Jack" and taken pushed out by "Blade
2.0".
The next modification will be to add a CO2 powered cylinder to activate the
wedge lifter. I may also revamp the batteries to save a little
weight. It is going to be a Beetle weight (3 lb) entry at MURC's
next Rocky Mountain Showdown in January.
