4/8/03 Vapor Bots

These designs are off shoots from Compound Fracture.  Many of the parts used are the same.  Click on the small preview to enlarge images.

Big Bunny FuFu (12 lbs)

The chassis and armor are designed with .25 inch thick Polycarbonate.  It is a wake up call to how hard it will be to make the 12 lb weight class.  As shown it weighs 11.9 lbs.  Yet to be modeled are the receiver, receiver batteries, wiring, and shut off switch / disconnect.  I may be forced into wimpy side skirts to make weight.

The skirts are shortened on the sides in an attempt to be able to fit into a 12" cube as per the Critter Crunch sumo style rules.  It would start matches with the skirts facing straight up vertically.  At the start of the match the first order of business would be to do a quick spin to extend and drop the skirts. I am hoping to have this robot built by Easter weekend.  The wheels, motor mounts, and hubs were ordered today.

Bloody Vortex (30 lbs)

The drive system also uses the Harbor Freight 9.6 Volt drill motors, but the weapon will be a 8 gallon beer keg cut in half horizontally.  Being that I am also a beer brewer, I have always wanted to make a remote controlled keg.  It looks as if the guts just might fit.  The weapon motor is an EV warrior.  Teeth (not shown)  will be welded on the outside of the 12 lb spinning shell.  As shown the design weighs 26.4 lbs.
